R. Bart Sangal, M.D.

web-dr sangal.jpgR. Bart Sangal, M.D., is Board Certified in Sleep Medicine and in Clinical Neurophysiology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He received the highest score in the nation in the 1985 Sleep Medicine certifying examinations. He trained at Johns Hopkins University and the National Institutes of Health in Baltimore, MD.

He is Director of Clinical Neurophysiology Services, a professional corporation. He runs the Sleep Disorders Institute, which is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. It is physician owned and operated, and not affiliated with any hospital. Testing is performed exclusively at the testing facilities in Sterling Heights.

Dr. Sangal was the first to practice Sleep Medicine in the counties north of Detroit, and has been rated a Top Doc by Hour Magazine.

He also runs the Attention Disorders Institute with JoAnne M. Sangal, Ph.D. (Educational Neurophysiology). She is the Assistant Director of Clinical Neurophysiology Services, P.C., and a member of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Sangal has lectured extensively on Clinical Neurophysiology and Sleep Medicine. The Detroit News, the Detroit Free Press, the Oakland Press, and the Royal Oak Tribune have profiled him. TV channels 2, 4, 7, 50 and 62 have interviewed him. So have several radio stations including WJR, WWJ, and WXYT.

Dr. Sangal is Director of the Sangal Research Foundation. He has several research publications to his credit, and has presented papers at several scientific meetings. He is a member of the Editorial Board of Clinical EEG.

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He has been a member of its Board of Directors and chair of its Health Policy Committee, and received its Public Policy Award in 2006. He is a Past-President of the Michigan Sleep Disorders Association. He is also a member of the American Medical Association, Michigan State Medical Society, Oakland County Medical Society, and EEG and Clinical Neuroscience Society.

He is a member of the medical staff of Beaumont (Troy & Royal Oak) Hospitals. He is a Professor at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.
